Who do we support
We support children, teenagers and adults with severe learning disabilities including those with mobility issues, epilepsy, autism, challenging behaviour and complex medical needs. We also have family and sibling programmes to provide respite and support for those with a disabled family member. We provide short breaks and activity clubs with a commitment to supporting people with learning disabilities for their whole lives. The safety of all those attending our clubs and activities is paramount and our well trained staff are all experienced in supporting young people with learning difficulties and those with additional and complex needs. Above all, we want the people we support to have fun and enjoy themselves at our clubs and activities. Our aim is to provide a supportive environment where our members can develop social and life skills to help build confidence, self esteem and independence. The short breaks provide valuable respite for parents and carers while giving them peace of mind that their young person is in a safe and supportive environment. We offer a wide range of clubs, activities and residential trips to satisfy a wide range of interests and ensure our members get a variety of experiences. We run after-school clubs for ages 6 through to 12, weekly social clubs for teenagers and adults, Saturday and holiday trips to local attractions such as Chessington World of Adventures, days out in London or trips down to the coast. We also offer residential stays throughout the year for ages 6 up. These are fantastic breaks that aim to provide our members with independence, confidence and above all, a fun trip away! We host regular stay and play sessions for 0-5 year olds, and have recently extended our offer to include parent and sibling support groups. Our family days are another staple of the Kangaroos Calendar! Open to the whole family, these fun days aim to give the family time to bond together, meet others in a similar situation to them, and gives them the opportunity to explore different activities with their children in a fun and safe environment.
