Kangaroos was chosen by TSI (Total Security Installations) to be their Charity of the Month for October 2019 following a nomination by Kate Scott from the Sales Team. TSI blends expertise in both physical and electronic security solutions with customers ranging from major retail, commercial, education and hospitality companies to architects, builders, insurance industry and high net worth clients both in the UK and Worldwide.
TSI integrates technology with a bespoke approach to design, build and fit out as well as helping individuals to protect their properties. As a family-run business for over 40 years they take pride in high service standards and round-the-clock support.
Kate Scott also ran the Munich marathon in October to raise additional funds for us, which amounted to a whopping £570, plus £136 in gift aid. We are delighted that Kate decided to support us and would like to say a huge congratulations for completing the run. Well done Kate!
And thank you so much to TSI for choosing to champion Kangaroos and recognise the great support that we continue to offer to young people with learning disabilities in Sussex. The grand total raised by Kate’s magnificent run and TSI’s sponsorship totalled a fantastic £1206. Awesome!
We are always looking for local businesses to support us as we rely on donations to continue to offer the clubs, day trips and overnight residential stays to our members. Our members get so much from Kangaroos, such as an opportunity to build friendships, grow confidence and enjoy activities that many take for granted. Our clubs and activities also give families much needed respite from their caring role.
It’s great that businesses further afield are engaging with our cause too. While we are based in Sussex, we welcome support from businesses locally and across the UK.
If you are inspired by TSI and Kate Scott, and would like to help raise money for Kangaroos, please get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
We had a great time in London on another of our Memory of a Lifetime trips to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. We started the day by having our lunch by the river followed by a river cruise where we spotted lots of London’s famous landmarks as well as enjoying a fly past by the red arrows to mark the Queens Official birthday!
We also went on the London Eye, a fantastic experience for so many who had never had this opportunity before. The young people had such a fantastic day out and many happy memories were made.
We had a great time at Alton Towers when we took a group of 15 young people of mixed ages with additional needs on a Memory of a Lifetime trip. The highlights of course were the rides, as well as the Alton Towers Rollercoaster Restaurant where a mini roller coaster brings you your dinner! We also enjoyed the evening entertainment, dancing the night away at Splash Landings Hotel at Alton Towers Resort.
After a busy morning at the waterpark, we headed back home with lots of happy memories of this fantastic trip.
8 young adults with learning disabilities and 8 support staff returned home after their magical memory of a lifetime trip to Disneyland, Paris. We packed in so much, enjoyed some wonderful experiences and made some fantastic memories in our 2 days at Disneyland. Thank you to everyone who helped us along the way to make this trip an amazing one – our first Kangaroos continental trip away!
Not only did we get up close and meet the animals and enjoy a tour around the farm, we also had exclusive use of the play areas and facilities. Everyone had great fun exploring all the play equipment, racing on the go karts and playing basketball. Thank you Blackberry Farm for making us feel so welcome.
Our first memory of a lifetime trip kickstarted in February when we took 12 young people with a range of learning disabilities and additional needs, aged between 11-28 years old, to London as part of our 25th-anniversary celebrations. The young people all had a fantastic time watching The Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre, enjoying a delicious meal at Bella Italia and staying overnight in The Premier Inn, Islington. It was a truly amazing experience for everyone.
