To mark our 25th Anniversary Year in 2019 we pledged to raise an additional £100,000 to give all of our members a special trip to make a Memory of a Lifetime.
For one of our special trips we took a group of our members to Blackberry Farm Park. Not only did everyone get up close and meet the animals and enjoy a tour around the farm, our members also had exclusive use of the play areas and facilities.
Everyone had great fun exploring and having fun on the play equipment, racing on the go karts and playing basketball.
Thank you Blackberry Farm for making our Kangaroos members feel so welcome. We had an absolutely brilliant day.
“Thank you all for giving my son (and others of course) such a fantastic afternoon, you all do a great job, total respect to everyone at kangaroos.”
“Thank you so much Kangaroos. Ben had such a fun afternoon with his friends.”
To mark our 25th Anniversary Year in 2019 we pledged to raise an additional £100,000 to make a memory of a lifetime for all of our members. All of our young people are to be given a once-in-a-lifetime trip, ranging from day trips to overnight stays and 2-night breaks at some amazing locations.
Our first Memory of a Lifetime trip kicked off in February when we took 12 young people with a range of learning disabilities and additional needs, aged between 11-28 years old, to London.
The young people all had a fantastic time watching The Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre, enjoying a delicious meal at Bella Italia and staying overnight in The Premier Inn, Islington.
It was a truly amazing experience for everyone and the trip gave our young people the opportunity to experience something many take for granted. This has been a truly brilliant start to our 25th anniversary year.
Some of the parents shared what an amazing experience their children had enjoyed:
“My son recently attended the London overnight trip, with a meal out and a theatre trip to see the Lion King. Nathan obviously thoroughly enjoyed this trip. He was beaming when he told us about it. He enjoyed being supported by Dan and Ben. I think the meal out was a hit! But the show obviously made an impression as Nathan acted out some of the songs when telling us about it, all the time beaming with the biggest smile. Nathan also said he liked staying in the hotel and enjoyed his cooked breakfast in the morning. Thank you for giving Nathan this wonderful experience.” Nathan’s parent.
“Jamie had a wonderful time on the trip and we are immensely grateful for the opportunity. The show is something that I have thought about taking him to but the cost has always been an issue and for him to stay in a hotel is a wonderful experience. Huge thanks to all the staff for being so positive and engaged with the young people as they always are and enabling them to enjoy themselves as ordinary teenagers would. It’s great to see them as a group of young people experiencing life rather than a group with disabilities. Thank you Kangaroos.” Jamie’s parent.
