Meet our Trustees

Bob White

Bob White – Chairperson

Bob’s career has been spent working in the field of education and professional football until his  retirement as a head teacher in a local school in 2014. He has two grown up daughters and a son with Downs Syndrome who has and continues to enjoy all the incredible opportunities Kangaroos has offered over the past 15 years or more. His interests include travel and sport and he can often be spotted cycling the local country roads.

Ian Buchanan

Ian Buchanan – Treasurer

​Ian has lived in Lindfield for over 30 years and is very aware of the opportunities that Kangaroos gives  our young people. He is married with two grown up children. His oldest son is an active member of Kangaroos. Ian recently retired having had a career in Financial Services working for large retail banks, Insurance Companies and Consultancies. Apart from his  personal experience with his son, he has been a Parent Governor for a Special Needs school in Ottershaw, Surrey. Ian became a Trustee for Kangaroos in May 2017 and is now excited to be able to support Kangaroos in his role as treasurer.

Jane Lacey

Jane Lacey – Company Secretary

​Jane lives in Lindfield with her husband and three daughters.  Her youngest, has Down’s syndrome, attends Woodlands Meed College, and has been a member of Kangaroos since she was six, providing the basis of her social life over the years.  Jane worked in Strategic Marketing for a major retailer before having children and has since worked in Learning Support at a local primary school. Jane has been involved in supporting Kangaroos both as a committee member and as Trustee for a number of years.

Miriam Owen

Miriam Owen

Miriam lives in Burgess Hill with her two teenage sons. Her youngest has attended Kangaroos sessions since he was six years old and has benefitted greatly from the social clubs and activities. Miriam has been a Trustee for more than eight years and is very proud to be part of Kangaroos. Miriam is also a Governor for Woodland Meed School and works as a Trainer for a large insurance company. She enjoys keeping fit, cycling and socialising.

Ginny Marshall

Ginny has worked in special education for most of her career, most recently as deputy head at Manor Green Primary in Crawley until 2011 and then as headteacher of St Giles in South Croydon. She retired in 2019 and now enjoys volunteering with the National Trust, playing the clarinet and recorder in various music groups and learning to play lawn bowls. She is delighted to be able to join Kangaroos as a trustee having seen the group grow from it’s early days at Court Meadow.

Richard Ball

Richard has been involved in running businesses locally in Sussex for 30 years and helps support our fundraising efforts. His 10 year old daughter Heidi (who was recently diagnosed with Retts Syndrome) is an active member of Kangaroos, attending the many groups, activities, outings and recently zooms that the charity organises. Richard is a keen sportsman, playing cricket and golf, and enjoys following Brighton and Hove Albion FC and Sussex CCC.

Tom Acott

Tom lives in Lindfield and has two children. He is recently retired after spending over 20 years in senior roles within the financial services industry and now works with a number of charities. Tom enjoys spending time with his children, keeping fit, walking his dog and watching live sport.
